I specialize in serving Rowan and surrounding counties, right here in the heart of Northeast Kentucky! We’re blessed with rolling hills, gorgeous mountain regions, and lots of water! Many of my clients are from out-of-state, and choose this area to retire, or simply to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. One of the most popular areas I serve is of course Morehead (40351), which is located in Rowan County. Morehead has a growing arts focus, with establishments such as the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music, the Kentucky Folk Art Center, and the Cave Run Symphony Orchestra. It is home to Morehead State University (GO EAGLES!), and a remote campus location for Maysville Community and Technical College. The downtown area is full of shops, local eateries, and other businesses that I grew to love during my time of working on Main Street, and you’re sure to love them too! We’re just off I-64 making for an easy commute, and only about an hour away from Lexington, Kentucky!
If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, we are lucky to have Cave Run Lake just a short drive away! It is known as the “Muskie Capital of the South”. With a full service marina, and thousands of acres of open water, Cave Run is a fishermans dream. I enjoy kayaking, boating, swimming, hiking, and picnicing there during the summer. There’s wonderful biking trails as well, and the Sheltowee Trace Trail, which stretches from Kentucky to Teneessee.
Surrounding the lake, there are an abundance of cabins and log homes for sale! Many people use these as a summer vacation home, and we’re even seeing some short-term rentals pop up around the lake now, like those advertised on Airbnb or VRBO. While Cave Run doesnt have any actual “lakefront” property, you can always find cabins that are just a short jaunt away! Menifee County has been the cabin spot at Cave Run for years, and boasts some gorgeous mountain areas.
Another area I love to introduce my out-of-town buyers to is Morgan County! While it is a very rural setting, the downtown area is new and growing after a devastating tornado tore apart the town a few years ago. Here, you’ll find plenty more mountains and rolling hills, and access to Cave Run Lake. Morgan County is well known across the state to many outdoorsmen and hunters for the large buck deer and the abundance of wildlife there. While it does have some wonderful options for residential property, I’ve found that it is a wonderful area for farm properties or larger acreage.
Now it’s time to talk up my hometown – Carter County, Kentucky! I was born and raised in Olive Hill - one of the two county seats in Carter County, with the other being Grayson. Carter County is home to country music legend Tom T. Hall, and TWO gorgeous Kentucky State Parks – Carter Caves Resort Park and Grayson Lake State Park. You’ll find tasty local restaurants, boutique fashion stores, and lots of other commerce in both Olive Hill and Grayson’s downtown areas. We’re just off I-64, making it a hub for travelers.
